Job Description Identify and map location and depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, oil, and electric lines. Document interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software. Communicate with clients, engineers and management. Use a variety of techniques (electrical, magnetic, blueprint analysis, and/or radar) to measure utilities. Determine where underground utilities (such as telephone, gas and power lines) should be placed. May have to unearth utilities with a shovel. Locate underground utilities through nondestructive methods. Record and document the underground utility field data in accordance with CAD standard formats. Must operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles. Research and review utility company records and identify utilities from field observation May use electric power tools, cutting tools and other equipment
