About The Position

This SULI student will work on “Upscaling synthesis and propertycharacterizations of nano-structured catalysts”. This individual will have chanceto access to instruments available in both MERF and the DOE Center ofNanoscale Materials (CNM) for conducting various material characterizations. The research results will be summarized as a technical report, and then ascientific paper to be published on peer-reviewed journal. Through the summerinternship, this student can: Understand flow synthesis method for preparing nano-scale materials; Gain knowledge and experience on design of catalyst and performance tests Use a spectrum of analytical tools, e.g. DSL nanoparticle size analyzer, XRD,SEM/EDS, FTIR, EIS and RDE, with operando characterization Gain laboratory experience in safe handling of nano-scale materials in hoods, gloveboxes, during manufacturing, and post-process, as well as waste disposal Learn creative, highly self-motivated and proactive approach towards scientificproblem solving as evidenced by publications/recommendations Publish a high-quality of scientific paper.
