About The Position

The intern will be a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience. EOE M/F/D/V Reporting to Martins Creek Engineering Manager, the engineering intern will have the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals as part of existing engineering projects and emergent work, as well as work independently on some tasks. The position will involve both power plant field and office work. The intern's primary work location will be the Martins Creek Power Plant in Bangor, PA. Work on projects may involve day travel or possibly overnight travel . Internship Roles and Responsibilities: Interns will support various Engineering activities. Project assignments will vary by department and may involve tasks such as: Assist with plant modifications and engineering work requests. Conduct calculations, analysis, and specifications supporting plant upgrades. Update plant electrical system analysis to incorporate change mechanisms and optimize system capabilities. Generate user interface pages for monitoring equipment performance. P lant walk-downs, reviewing drawings, meeting with vendors, and working with experienced engineers to develop specs and project plans. Involved with plant emergent equipment issues. The Talen Energy intern will operate in a team environment applying interpersonal, communications, and technical skills and knowledge, and demonstrating leadership qualities.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university program.
  • Must be enrolled in a curriculum leading to a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in engineering or related field of study.
  • Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours).
  • Must be entering either your Junior or Senior year.
  • Students may not continue as an Intern once they have graduated.
  • Must possess an acceptable overall (cumulative) grade point average, no lower than a 3.0.
  • Must be eligible to work in accordance with Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) regulations.
  • Must be able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to Talen power plants as necessary (from 1 hour to 3.5 hours of base location).
  • Must be able to successfully complete required background clearance and drug screening.
