Earthjustice’s International Program partners with legal organizations in Latin America, Africa, Australia, and Indonesia to establish, strengthen, and enforce national and international legal protections for the environment, climate, and public health. The International Program is seeking a summer 2026 science intern. We are seeking a graduate student who shares a passion for justice and a healthy environment. The science intern will work with staff scientists to analyze scientific and technical knowledge to develop analyses for legal challenges to fossil fuel projects. The summer 2026 science intern is expected to work full-time at 37.5 hours/week for 10 weeks. The successful candidate may work remotely from the U.S. or on a hybrid schedule from our San Francisco, CA office.

Requirements

  • Was enrolled in a graduate environmental science (or related field) studies program during spring 2026 and will continue enrollment in the program through fall 2026.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and comfort navigating and learning new tools.
  • Outstanding research skills, including ability to conduct scientific literature reviews and basic quantitative data analyses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex information to various audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Earthjustice’s values of Justice, Excellence, Inclusion, and Partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct discrete research for administrative comments and appeals, litigation, and campaign materials on energy projects and regulations.
  • Draft broader, long-term research memos on key emerging technical, economic, and/or policy issues within the energy transition.
