About The Position

SUMMER CAMP 2026 IS NEAR! Location: Various Apple Montessori Locations (Westfield, Warren, Edison, Metuchen, NJ) We are currently accepting applications and will begin interviewing starting in April 2026. Are you energetic, creative, and passionate about working with young children? Apple Montessori Schools is now accepting applications for Summer Camp Counselors for our Summer 2026 camp season. We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who love engaging with children and are excited to help create a summer filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you’ll work closely with a team of counselors while supporting a consistent group of campers throughout the day. You’ll participate in all aspects of camp life, from outdoor play and creative arts to STEM activities and water fun. Counselors assist activity specialists, encourage camper participation, and serve as positive role models. Most importantly, you’ll help foster a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where children feel supported, confident, and excited to try new things. Important Hiring Timeline · Interviews Begin: April 2026 · Summer Camp Session: July 6 – August 28, 2026 Perks of Working at AMS Summer Camp · Monday–Friday only — evenings and weekends off · Full-time & part-time positions: 20–40 hours per week · Consistent daytime hours with a great work-life balance · Small group sizes for meaningful connections and individualized attention · Supportive, team-based environment focused on collaboration and growth

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • CPR / First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • A genuine love of working with children
  • Physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children
  • Understanding of health and safety guidelines
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work Monday–Friday, maintaining the same shift consistently
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 7 out of the 8 weeks of summer camp
  • School/college schedules, start dates, and planned vacations must be shared during the interview process

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all campers enjoy a safe, sanitary, and engaging learning environment
  • Supervise and engage children throughout daily camp activities
  • Maintain accurate student records and communicate daily updates with families
  • Encourage positive self-image while supporting individuality, independence, and creativity
  • Model appropriate social behavior and positive communication
  • Collaborate with fellow counselors, teachers, and activity specialists
  • Actively participate in all scheduled camp activities
