About The Position

This role is responsible for facilitating summer camp experiences that inspire curiosity about space, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while creating a safe, inclusive, and memorable learning environment. The summer camp educator is an enthusiastic and engaging team member delivering dynamic, hands-on STEM programming for students aged 7-12. The role is energetic, organized, comfortable working with children, and passionate about space and STEM education. The Space Foundation Discovery Center is a hands-on space, science, and technology center dedicated to inspiring the next generation of explorers and innovators. Through immersive exhibits and engaging educational programs, we connect students to the possibilities of space and STEM careers.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year experience working with children in an educational, camp, or youth program setting required
Strong communication and classroom management skills required
Experience leading hands-on activities and managing small and large groups required
Ability to pass a background check required

Nice To Haves

Background in education, STEM, or a related field preferred
Experience with informal education settings (museums, camps, after-school programs) preferred
CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

Facilitate interactive STEM-based summer camp programs for students.
Ability to quickly learn and deliver a multitude of hands-on lessons, demonstrations, and activities aligned with Space Foundation curriculum.
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
Supervise campers during instructional time, transitions, lunch, and designated activity periods.
Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning styles and age groups.
Set up, organize, and clean up classroom materials and supplies daily.
Support group management and behavior expectations using positive reinforcement techniques.
Collaborate with fellow educators and Discovery Center staff to ensure smooth camp operations.
Communicate professionally with parents and guardians as needed.
Follow all safety protocols and organizational policies.
Other duties as assigned.
