About The Position

Ravenscroft School is seeking energetic, responsible, and community-minded individuals to join Camp Ravensnest and Summer Programs for the summer season. These roles support a safe, engaging, and joyful camp experience for children while offering meaningful leadership development, teamwork, and hands-on experience in a school-based summer program. Positions are available at multiple levels, ranging from leadership training roles for younger students to paid counselor and operations positions for older students. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for working with children, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive camp environment. SUMMER POSITIONS FOR CAMP RAVENSNEST 1. Lead Counselor Eligibility: Age 18 and up Status: Paid (starting at $13.00/hour; increases with experience) Overview: Lead Counselors are the primary leaders for camper groups and are responsible for planning, supervision, and team coordination. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. 2. Assistant Counselor Eligibility: Age 16 and up Status: Paid (starting at $10.00/hour; increases with experience) Overview: Assistant Counselors play an active role in leading activities and supporting campers throughout the day. They work collaboratively with Lead Counselors and may step into leadership responsibilities as needed 3. Junior Counselor (Counselor in Leadership Training) Eligibility: Under Age 16 Status: Unpaid Overview: The Junior Counselor role is designed as a leadership development opportunity for younger students interested in working in camp settings in future summers. Junior Counselors work closely with Assistant and Lead Counselors to learn camp operations, child supervision, and activity facilitation. 4. Summer Program Office Employee Status: Paid (rate dependent on role and experience) Overview: This role supports the operational and administrative needs of Summer Programs and Camp Ravensnest. Responsibilities vary and may include a mix of student-facing and behind-the-scenes work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Counselors: Serve as the primary leader for a camp group (approximately 30 campers), Plan and execute daily and weekly activity programming, Supervise and manage Junior and Assistant Counselors assigned to your group, Work closely with the Camp Ravensnest Director, Attend and supervise campers on field trips, Address health, dietary, and safety needs of campers
  • Assistant Counselors: Lead and support daily camp activities and events, Assist with camper supervision during lunch, quiet time, and transitions, Help organize and execute camper programming, Address camper behavior concerns in partnership with Lead Counselors, Step into leadership coverage when Lead Counselors are unavailable
  • Junior Counselor: Support Assistant and Lead Counselors during daily camp activities, Learn foundational camp counseling skills and expectations, Assist with camper engagement, transitions, and group activities, Gain experience to prepare for future Assistant Counselor roles
  • Summer Program Office Employee: Support Lunch Bunch programming, Serve as a Camp Ambassador on Monday mornings, Assist with social media content creation for summer programs, Support roster reconciliation and program organization, Assist with general camp logistics and operations, Support Upper School setup and breakdown on designated dates
