About The Position

The City of Atlanta Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking motivated and detail-oriented student interns to assist with various projects and initiatives related to government oversight, contract reviews, investigations, and public accountability. As an intern, you will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced and dynamic governmental environment, working alongside professionals in the fields of investigations, compliance, procurement review, and public integrity. Duration : Summer: May 7, 2026 - July 29, 2026 Fall: September 10, 2026 - December 17, 2026 We will make accommodations for needs, including trimester schedules and varying academic calendars, and we will consider part-time schedule requests.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, and Political Science. Other degree programs will be considered.
  • Strong interest in government operations, public policy, and integrity.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with WordPress is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the review and analysis of government contracts, financial records, and other reports.
  • Conduct research on best practices in government accountability, fraud prevention, and compliance.
  • Help compile data and prepare reports for ongoing investigations and audits.
  • Support the drafting of investigative findings, recommendations, and public reports.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of presentations, briefings, and summaries for leadership.
  • Help organize and maintain files related to ongoing reviews, investigations, and complaints.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, correspondence management, and scheduling.
