What is the role? We’re looking for an additional Summer Energy Engineer Intern who is passionate about energy conservation AND has a desire to grow in technical knowledge in order to tackle energy cost-saving projects for all types of buildings. In this intern role, you can use that passion to support Michaels’ engineers, building owners, utilities, consultants, and partners to save energy and lower utility bills. Client and customer communication is also important in this role.

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior level students working towards degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering
  • Proven strong academic background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
  • Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills
  • Passion for energy conservation
  • Ability to travel regionally up to 30% for customer site visits

Responsibilities

  • Perform energy analysis using established calculation templates
  • Collect data from online or in-person sources to support engineer work
  • Assist in report writing for customers
  • Perform research tasks
  • Develop new calculation templates and tools
