About The Position

As a Purchasing Procurement Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting the procurement department's operations and gaining practical experience in procurement processes and supplier management. You will work closely with the procurement team to assist in various tasks and projects, contributing to the organization's overall efficiency and success.   • Must be currently enrolled in a related Bachelor's Degree program or higher at an accredited institution having completed your Sophomore year or later, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter before participation in the internship program, and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Be willing to work in an office in Novi, Michigan.
  • Able to provide your own housing and transportation to/from work.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • Must provide full work availability from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026 and be able to work 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Actively provide support in our Automotive Transformational goals focusing on Resiliency & Speed to Market.
  • Maintain and consolidate Tier-N (sub-tier) supplier resiliency data, including single/dual sourcing status, geographic risk exposure, lifecycle state, and dependency analysis for critical electronic components (e.g., semiconductors, PCBAs, connectors).
  • Support a cross-SBU resiliency tracking dashboard (Excel/Power BI), enabling improved visibility into supplier dependencies and mitigation progress.
  • Track and report supplier dependency mitigation actions (dual sourcing, capacity expansion, redesign, alternative component qualification) in coordination with Procurement, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Assist in M-Gate Redesign Project which ensures early procurement involvement in product/program processes to achieve should cost, component preference, strategy, lifecycle state, and Multisourcing through strategic sourcing.
  • Analyze sourcing process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance procurement integration in program milestones.
  • Independently manage a defined improvement project, including project planning, stakeholder coordination, data analysis, and development of actionable recommendations.
  • Complete a project plan and final project summary which will be presented to Executive management highlighting measurable impact.
