Our team works closely with founders, venture capital partners, and industry stakeholders to source and evaluate emerging technologies that can transform the global transportation landscape. Vantage Futures is seeking a highly motivated venture capital focused resource to support our investment team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to venture investing within the transportation and infrastructure sectors. This Vantage Futures Intern will report to the Director, Vantage Futures and will be responsible for supporting the following. Interns will assist with deal sourcing, early-stage due diligence, industry research, and investment analysis, while gaining insight into the full lifecycle of venture investments. Candidates with availability beyond the summer months are preferred, as an extended timeline allows exposure to the complete cycle of sourcing, evaluating, and potentially executing an investment. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, a quick learner who can work independently, with superior organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. The qualified candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, a high degree of integrity and objectivity, and innovation in approaching project challenges.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate, or post-graduate, degree. Actively pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, communications business, economics, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong interest in venture capital, startups, and emerging technologies.
  • Curiosity about transportation infrastructure, mobility, or sustainability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with an interest in networking and engaging with founders and industry professionals.
  • Analytical mindset with strong research capabilities.
  • Comfortable with preparing presentations and communicating insights to internal teams.
  • Organization, attention to details and planning skills crucial for multi-tasking while prioritizing and executing tasks.
  • Strong administrative skills, including writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills for interactions at all levels of management and the ability to multitask in a busy work environment.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • A preference for working with an entrepreneurial, fast-paced team.
  • Demonstrated business acumen coupled with strategic, analytical and creative skills.
  • An ability to manage multiple projects, without compromising quality.
  • A passion for learning.
  • Remote, but must be currently located in the Greater Toronto Area (the opportunity for in-person business and client meetings along with other events will come up)
  • This summer internship requires full-time availability (Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week) for a minimum of four months.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and research emerging startups aligned with Vantage Futures’ investment themes.
  • Build and help maintain internal databases of venture opportunities and pipeline tracking.
  • Track industry trends across mobility, infrastructure technology, and sustainability.
  • Conduct landscape analysis on sectors relevant to transportation innovation.
  • Support preliminary evaluation of startup opportunities.
  • Assist with company research, business model analysis, and market sizing.
  • Prepare investment summaries and briefing materials for internal discussions.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and technology analysis.
  • Participate in meetings with founders, venture funds, and industry partners.
  • Attend select industry events, demo days, and conferences on behalf of Vantage Futures.
  • Assist with outreach to startups and ecosystem participants.
  • Support development of internal presentations and investment memos.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for leadership and investment committees.
  • Collecting and preparing information for meetings with outside stakeholders.
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned
