The Summer Internship Development Program at Versant Health is designed to help you explore your career, learn our business, and develop as a young professional. Throughout the course of this 8-week summer internship opportunity, you will engage in professional and career development workshops, attend fireside chat series with Versant Health’s senior leaders and complete a capstone project. See how you can make a difference with the support of strong leadership and a team environment. Versant Health: Making Healthy Vision a Reality for Everyone Scope and Purpose of Position: . The Underwriting Intern position provides hands-on exposure to underwriting functions by assisting with risk assessment, rating, and pricing while job shadowing experienced underwriters. The Intern will learn underwriting workflows through guided training in reviewing census data, claims experience, and plan designs. The program also builds communication and analytical skills through collaboration with sales and client management teams to understand pricing strategy and client interactions.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an Undergraduate degree program
  • Preferred fields of study: Business Administration, Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Project Management, Business Analytics, Economics, Healthcare Administration
  • Required school classifications: Current Juniors and Seniors only
  • Required GPA: 3.0 and above
  • Knowledge of finance and financial planning and analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel
  • Excel skills: Pivot tables, working with large data sets, basic functions

Responsibilities

  • Assist with documentation, organization
  • Will work with basic analysis and projections, financials and decision making
  • Collaboration with Sales & Client Management teams, strategy
  • Ensure that requests that come to Underwriting are complete and accurate, not missing documentation, asking clarifying questions on initial submission to Underwriting
