The State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts including 11 regional programs. It establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective. The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources mission is to cultivate a robust and equitable agricultural economy, promote a safe and resilient food system, and preserve a healthy environment for Massachusetts farmers, animals, and consumers. The Massachusetts State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board (SRB), within the Department of Agricultural Resources, oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including 12 regional programs. SRB establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective. The Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project, located at 272 South Meadow Road Plymouth, MA is an agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that provides mosquito control services. Seasonal Catch Basin Applicator will be involved in survey and control services targeted at mammal biting mosquito species and Culex species related to West Nile virus.

Requirements

  • A cover letter referencing the correct position must be submitted as part of the application process and attached “as relevant” to the requisition.
  • As a condition of employment, the applicant must obtain a Catch Basin Larvicide Permit, but no prior experience necessary. Paid training will be provided for the test.
  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and be physically fit.

Responsibilities

  • Sampling and applying larvicides to catch basins and marking treated catch basins.
  • Transportation along assigned routes will include driving a state truck.
  • Working as part of a 2-person crew operating a vehicle to apply larval mosquito control pesticides.
  • Seasonal Field Technicians may also be assigned additional duties and responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent or their designee.
