About The Position

We are seeking K-5 Summer Program Site Leads at Pettigrew, Oscar Howe and Hayward Elementary School's to help create a fun, structured, and enriching summer experience for students. This individual will work alongside classroom instructors, providing leadership and support. Additionally, the Site Lead will design and implement club lessons on varying Fridays, step into the instructor role as needed, and assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all children. Requirements

  • Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or childcare setting for at least 1 year.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to confidently manage a group of students.
  • Classroom management and behavior management experience.
  • Ability to develop and lead engaging lessons and activities for K-5 students.
  • Comfortable stepping into the instructor role when needed.
  • Ability to effectively supervise children on field trips and during daily activities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom instructors to support daily lesson plans and activities.
  • Develop and implement club lessons on varying Fridays for students to explore different activities and interests.
  • Step into the instructor role when needed, ensuring smooth transitions and consistency for students.
  • Effectively manage student behaviors using positive reinforcement and classroom management strategies.
  • Help implement the daily schedule, ensuring all activities run on time and transitions are smooth.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all children at all times.
  • Assist in preparing children for field trips and help safely escort and supervise students during off-site activities.
  • Encourage participation and foster a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel valued.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and guardians as needed.
  • Assist with program logistics, including setup, cleanup, and organization of materials.
  • Model professionalism and enthusiasm, setting a positive example for students and staff.
  • Step in to cover staff breaks to maintain consistency in the classroom.
