Superintendent (Healthcare Construction | Cancer Center Project)
About The Position
HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for a confidential commercial general contractor seeking an experienced Superintendent to support a major healthcare construction project in Florence, South Carolina. This role will be based onsite and focused on the execution of a 3-story cancer center (~60,000 SF) . The ideal candidate has a proven track record on healthcare or highly regulated commercial builds, brings strong subcontractor coordination skills, and understands what it takes to deliver quality work in sensitive clinical environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a superintendent who takes pride in field execution, reliability, and building facilities that directly impact patient care.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of relevant Superintendent experience in commercial construction
- Prior exposure to healthcare construction or similarly regulated environments
- Strong subcontractor coordination and jobsite execution skills
- Ability to work fully onsite in Florence, SC (no remote flexibility)
- Solid understanding of construction safety, quality control, and inspection requirements
- Reliable work history with demonstrated job stability (2–3+ years per employer preferred)
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting or working under a Lead Superintendent on hospital or specialty care facilities
- Ground-up healthcare project exposure (cancer centers, rehab facilities, surgical centers)
- Degree in Construction Management or equivalent hands-on field leadership experience
- Strong professional maturity, team-first mindset, and ability to operate under pressure
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day onsite construction operations for a multi-story healthcare facility
- Support scheduling and milestone execution to ensure project timelines remain on track
- Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, inspections, and workflow sequencing
- Maintain strict safety and quality standards across all trades and phases of work
- Monitor jobsite productivity, materials flow, and field-level budget awareness
- Serve as a calm, consistent leader on an active construction site
- Communicate clearly with project leadership, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Identify issues early and help drive solutions in fast-moving, regulated environments
- Uphold client-facing professionalism and accountability throughout the build
