About The Position

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing diagnostic cardiac services along with providing quality care to our patients. Oversees the daily operations of the Cardiac imaging department and schedules resources as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, computer skills, organization, time management, attention to detail and the ability to remain poised and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Utilizes Outlook, Excel, MS Word, and Workday.
  • 3 years of licensed experience required.
  • Education sufficient to obtain required licensure/certification
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
  • Current Iowa licensure as Registered Nurse, Cardiac Sonographer, Vascular Sonographer, or Nuclear Medicine Technologist required.
  • Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.

  • 1 year of Lead or Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reports practice performance to the Manager, identifying operational efficiencies or areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for employee time reporting.
  • Ensures adequate staffing of the practice site supplementing with relief employees as needed.
  • Works with the Manager to select, orient and supervise practice staff.
  • Responsible for work assignments and training of employees as needed.
  • Reports performance issues to the Manager.
  • Participates in feedback with employees, including performance evaluations, discipline and commendations.
  • May also fulfill some or all of the duties of a Patient Service Coordinator or Patient Care Staff as needed.
  • Prepares patient for imaging study. This includes histories, vitals, reason for visit, presenting symptoms and current medication list.
  • Provides assistance with diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed by the provider. This includes explaining diagnostic procedures to patient as needed.
  • Completes discharge of patient from testing room.
  • Effectively documents within the electronic health record.
  • Prepares the testing and treatment rooms, including instrument, supplies and protective devices for exam and testing.
  • Maintains and stocks supplies.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments in accordance with infection control and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Provides patient education as needed for the scheduled test/procedures.
  • Meets requirements for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous waste.
  • Consistently evaluates department to determine if it meets DNV requirements.
  • Recommends plans to improve department operations to Manager.
  • Documents procedures for department operations and trains staff on new procedures.
  • Supports the students that rotate into the department.
  • Assists Manager with budgeting needs.
  • Completes job performance evaluations of subordinates.
  • Manages and coordinates all daily activities of the department.
  • Stays up to date on the department procedures and policies.
  • Supports Scheduling demands.
  • Interprets productivity and budget reports.
  • Provides input into capital equipment purchases, personnel selection and planning
  • Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
