Leads and develops a team of Engineers by managing daily operations, resolving complex technical issues, and driving continuous improvement through strategic collaboration, resource optimization, and performance-based development to enhance productivity, innovation, and alignment with organizational goals. Job Description: Drives operational efficiency and innovation by initiating process improvements, optimizing resource utilization across the group, and collaborating with other Supervising Engineers to align efforts with broader strategic objectives. Leads engineering practices within the group by managing escalated technical issues and ensuring consistent application of standards. Supervises Engineers and prepares daily team operations by assigning tasks and setting priorities to ensure timely completion of work, while collaborating with Engineers groups to ensure career development plans are in place, goals are met, and strategic areas within the group are fully integrated. Supervises the Engineers in the group, providing coaching, identifying skill gaps, and supporting development through performance management and succession planning to address issues impacting productivity or quality. Analyzes performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities, initiating process enhancements and recommending changes to engineering standards to drive efficiency and innovation. Applies strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to resolve employee concerns and conflicts, fostering a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment. Tracks team expenses, payroll and ensures adherence to budget guidelines to support cost control. Monitors and guides team compliance with organizational standards and legal requirements to minimize risk and ensure operational integrity. Participates in and ensures team participation in critical restoration tasks and drills following storms and/or emergencies to maintain service continuity and operational safety. Executes and delegates additional responsibilities based on team and business needs to ensure continuity and responsiveness in operational responsiveness. Additional Job Description: Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Bachelor’s degree in Electric Engineering (preferred) Experience 4 years' experience in a similar functional role in a Utility Environment, with at least 2 years in a lead role, overseeing employees (or Engineers) directly or indirectly. Proven experience applying sound judgment to make decisions. Previous experience working in Distribution (preferred). Additional education may substitute for the required experience when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role: Master’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 3 years of experience performing related functions and at least 1 years of experience supervising Engineers. License/Certifications Professional Engineering License Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects. Member of the Puerto Rico Association of Engineers and Surveyors. Travel Requirements Travels: 30%.
