The Ford Exterior Lighting Applications Supervisor role spans a variety of engineering fields including mechanical, electrical, software and optics. This position involves responsibilities including definition of requirements, tooling, validation testing, and launching in an assembly plant during the development of Exterior Lighting products throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle. This role requires an engineering supervisor to lead and drive a cross functional team that includes lighting engineers, systems engineers, lighting suppliers, studio, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality functions. In this position... Supervise a talented team of Exterior Lighting Applications Engineers to deliver exciting Exterior Lighting products and features. • Lead Systems Engineering for Exterior Lighting Applications. • Generate and execute technical solutions for Exterior Lighting components to support new vehicle programs. • Perform complex engineering evaluation analysis. • Work cross-functionally to implement cost savings, product improvements, and to support prototype and production build activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Optical)
  • 5+ years of lighting applications and/or other relative experience.
  • 10+ years of body exterior applications and/or other relative experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or other Advanced Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Optical).
  • 10+ years of lighting applications and/or other related experience.
  • Familiarity with Design For Six Sigma process.
  • Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of plastic materials, plastic injection molding, optics, basic electrical/electronic circuitry, lamp manufacturing processes, tooling, fixture design and product validation.
  • Knowledge of global lighting regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Balance attributes such as cost, weight, complexity, and timing.
  • Supervise product development, production release, validation, and launch of Exterior Lighting systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Communicate information to and from internal and external organizations.
  • Lead team meetings (suppliers, designers, engineers, manufacturing, supplier quality, etc.).
  • Travel as required (including international).
