About The Position

Supervises routine patient food production, service and nutritional care, employee/visitor/cafeteria meals and catering activities. Provides exceptional care and service to patients, guests and employees at all times. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and the Ethical and Religious Directives for healthcare.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food handling and sanitation.
  • Previous food service experience in hospital or long-term care.

  • Supervisor experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inventories, orders, receives, and stores food ingredients according to HACCP Guidelines.
  • Evaluates finished products allowing only quality menu items to be served.
  • Maintains knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets to train, supervise, food service workers, Diet clerks, and/or cooks.
  • Knowledge of when to refer nutritional issues to Dietitians.
  • Monitors staff use of food service chemicals for proper dispensing, labeling, and use for safety and effectiveness.
  • Prepares weekly production staff schedule including staff vacations, catered events, etc.
  • Daily counts, reconciles and records cafeteria money from cash registers.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
