About The Position

The Lab Technician Supervisor oversees day-to-day extraction and lab operations, ensuring high-quality cannabis products through effective leadership, technical expertise, and strict compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Reporting to the Manager, Lab Operations, this role is responsible for supervising lab technicians, optimizing extraction methodologies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation. The Lab Technician Supervisor plays a key role in driving efficiency, consistency, and innovation within the extraction facility.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older (18 in NY)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an extraction lab or manufacturing environment, preferably in cannabis
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge of closed-loop hydrocarbon extraction and extract refinement
  • Proficiency with CO₂, ethanol, or hydrocarbon extraction systems
  • Strong understanding of cannabis regulations, quality control, and compliance standards
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and lead in a regulated environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs with assistance
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and ladder use
  • Extended standing and repetitive motion work
  • Comfortable working in varied environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, odors, and noise)
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of lab technicians, providing training, guidance, and daily task direction
  • Oversee cannabis extraction and refinement processes, ensuring adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor extraction equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate maintenance and calibration
  • Conduct and oversee quality control checks to ensure consistency, potency, and purity of extracted products
  • Maintain accurate batch records, inventory logs, quality reports, and equipment documentation
  • Support the Manager, Lab Operations with process improvements, reporting, and compliance initiatives
  • Identify and resolve extraction, equipment, or workflow issues proactively
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows to meet production and quality targets
  • Manage inventory of lab supplies, materials, and solvents, ensuring timely replenishment
  • Collaborate with cultivation, quality assurance, compliance, and production teams to align operations
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Schedule, evaluate, and coach team members, providing feedback and recognition
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of lab staff
  • Serve as a resource for team members regarding SOPs, safety standards, and departmental procedures
