About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor will direct the activities of the Filter Finishing Business Line Manufacturing Engineering Team of 5-6 member while also being responsible for their own individual engineering projects. This team is responsible for ongoing quality, yield, and process improvements, and for new product and new process introduction.

Requirements

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science-related, along with 8+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using root cause analysis tools to accurately identify root cause.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams formally or informally to achieve results in a cooperative, cross-functional, participative (e.g. matrix) environment.
  • The right candidate will have a passion to succeed in all aspects of the position, be of the highest integrity; customer focused and is committed to the paradigm of continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to travel to customer sites, as needed.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and present on the production floor.
  • This position is a site-based role.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in optical systems, components or glass fabrication (i.e., Optical Glass machining, processing, cleaning, inspection, and handling) is a plus.
  • Quality tools and/or lean six sigma knowledge expertise is highly desired.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise & coordinate the daily priorities of the Filters Finishing Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Execute engineering project this position is responsible for leading.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of robust production processes.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing.
  • Monitor and address key performance indicators (KPIs) performance for yield, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely execution of engineering change orders and process updates.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for process-related issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, and R&D.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as needed.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians when appropriate.
  • Responsible for HR responsibilities related to the team – Reviews, Attendance, Coaching, etc.
