About The Position

As a Production Supervisor, you are responsible for supervising the manufacturing of new and existing products according to pre-determined operations in accordance with agreed planning, yield, production-cost and quality consistent with SHE requirements. You will drive the end-to-end materials conversion process which includes cost of production (especially usage and yield), quality of product, timely delivery and production to plan. As the primary point of contact and guidance for operators who produce DSM medical devices, this position represents a critical link in ensuring company expectations are appropriately communicated, understood, and carried out by the team. Requirements

  • Associate or Technical level degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Good communication skills, understanding of engineering concepts, proven supervisory and management skills, computer literacy
  • 2-3 years in a relevant industrial environment with supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Arena and other QMS systems.
  • Previous experience in a GMP and GDP biotech/ pharmaceutical/ food environment preferred.

  • Polymer or Chemical Processing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily supervision in a Clean Room environment, maintaining a safe, productive, and cooperative environment.
  • Ensures the agreed volume of products is produced in conformity with planning and cost.
  • Provides leadership in the development and planning of personnel and plant safety activities and ensures compliance to safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the production department.
  • Identifies areas for efficiency improvements and manages implementation by keeping and reviewing records, observing current practices and evaluating input from production employees.
  • Troubleshoot tooling/process problems that occur during daily production activities and correct or recommend changes as necessary.
  • Manage Shop Orders and supporting paperwork for accuracy and completeness. Provide assistance as needed to perform system transactions involving material, labor and order completion.
  • Support identification of Inspector and/or Technician Manufacturing priorities working in alignment with the Lead Inspector and/or Senior Team Lead Manu.
  • Coordinate job, safety, and GMP training for production personnel as required and act in accordance with Quality System/GMP and safety requirements and provide feedback to management regarding areas of non-compliance.
  • Demonstrate, promote, and comply with all dsm-firmenich Life Saving Rules through active discussion in team meetings and holding employees accountable for their SHE behaviors and attitudes. Follows all SHE instructions and procedures to include ensuring awareness of and following all dsm-firmenich Life Saving Rules.  Acts is such a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
  • Displays and promotes positive safety behaviors at all times; uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE), appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area comply with the safety directives and keep the area neat and clean.
  • Develops and updates production department Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and permit to work.
  • Participates in site Hazardous Operations (HAZOP) team as required and participates in operational audits.
  • Shows leadership by working to SHE standards and encouraging colleagues to work to the same standards.
