POSITION INFORMATION Position summary:
Requirements
- Associate degree required (experience beyond the below requirements may be substituted for education)
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in hospital inpatient or outpatient coding and/or billing is required. Experience may include internship/job training.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems required (Cerner, Epic, or similar).
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel & Word, encoders, and billing software required.
- Basic knowledge of charging, billing, and medical necessity is required.
- AHIMA or AAPC certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
