About The Position

This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position reports to the Supervisor, Supply Chain Supplier Development and Contracts. This position can be sited at any of our locations within the FirstEnergy Territory. This is an onsite role. The Supplier Development Coordinator is a member of the Supplier Development team within the Supply Chain organization. This team is responsible for ensuring that small and diverse suppliers are at the forefront in sourcing activities as well as reporting both externally and internally to key stakeholders on the status of our supplier development and small business programs. The estimated pay range for this position is $100,725-$118,500 with a 20% differential in New Jersey.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline is required and 10-13 years' related work experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 13 years of related experience required. Related work experience includes previous supplier diversity / supplier development analysis and management.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively in a professional, team-oriented environment, demonstrating respect toward colleagues and suppliers.

  • Maintain subject‑matter expertise in supplier diversity principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices; effectively communicate program objectives and guide internal stakeholders.
  • Support sourcing teams in integrating small and diverse suppliers into category strategies by evaluating supplier capabilities, identifying aligned opportunities, and assisting with onboarding and qualification.
  • Partner with business units to increase utilization of small and diverse suppliers through opportunity identification, supplier recommendations, and strategic direction.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of Supplier Development and Small Business program frameworks to ensure alignment with federal and state requirements.
  • Manage program governance, including program standards, documentation, controls, and operating cadence.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and translate new requirements into internal processes, procedures, and training.
  • Prepare and deliver program strategy, performance, and compliance updates to internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external supplier development activities, representing FirstEnergy at events and with key partners.
  • Identify, assess, and engage small and diverse suppliers, supporting capability reviews and providing onboarding guidance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, councils, chambers, advocacy organizations, and other external partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Sourcing, Procurement, Legal, Business Units, and Finance—to align supplier development opportunities with business needs.
  • Manage event and membership budgets, including forecasting, tracking, and variance reporting.
  • Develop and maintain an annual events calendar, providing strategic recommendations and business rationale.
  • Plan and execute supplier development events such as matchmaking sessions, workshops, and supplier fairs; coordinate logistics, sponsorships, registrations, and follow‑up actions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of external events, conferences, and memberships.
  • Maintain a standardized evaluation framework to measure engagement outcomes, supplier pipeline progression, and cost‑to‑benefit impacts.
  • Conduct year‑over‑year analyses to determine event and membership prioritization.
  • Prepare clear post‑event reports that summarize insights, ROI findings, and recommended actions.
  • Use data and analysis to guide future event strategy and resource allocation.
  • Provide analytical support to the Data & Insights lead.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reports using advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, reconciliation, and analysis for supplier and spend data.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve supplier diversity outcomes.
  • Maintain KPIs aligned with state diversity and federal small business requirements.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for leadership, procurement, legal, compliance, and external audiences.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and program effectiveness.
  • Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.
