Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer II Reporting To: Manager, Process Work Schedule: Hybrid – Buffalo, NY Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer II to ensure our Electronics supply base consistently delivers high-quality, defect-free components that meet stringent aerospace standards. In this role, you’ll be a key partner throughout the supplier lifecycle—from initial qualification and onboarding to ongoing performance monitoring and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, as well as external suppliers to build and/or improve robust quality systems that support on-time delivery and zero-defect performance. This position reports to the Supplier Quality Manager, offers a 1st shift schedule, based in East Aurora, NY, with approximately 25% travel. As Moog continues to rely on external supply chain partners, the Supplier Quality Engineer role is critical to safeguarding product integrity and reliability. You’ll lead initiatives that strengthen supplier capabilities, mitigate risks, and drive compliance with aerospace industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with 2 years of that experience in Supplier Quality or Quality Assurance within aerospace or a similarly regulated industry (e.g., automotive, medical devices).
  • OR Associate’s Degree with 10+ year’s Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards (AS9100 and related aerospace requirements)
  • Experience utilizing problem solving tools and methodologies to identify root cause and implementing corrective/preventive actions (e.g. 8D, 5-why, etc.) Including troubleshooting part or process issues in a manufacturing environment within the supplier’s facilities.
  • Experience using industry standard quality tools and APQP methodologies is preferred (for example: FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, SPC, Capability Analysis, Error Proofing)
  • Experience conducting internal, supplier, or customer audits, including process audits where quality cannot be verified through inspection
  • Understanding of GD&T and inspection techniques
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab)
  • Experience with APQP and PPAP with new development programs and new product introduction.
  • Knowledge of specific aerospace standards such as AS13000 series, AS9102, AS9145, IPC-J-STD and IPC-A-610

Responsibilities

  • Conducting supplier audits and assessments to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Developing and implementing supplier quality standards, performance metrics, and improvement plans to ensure compliance with Moog and regulatory requirements. This includes managing and resolving non-conformances, including the implementation of supplier corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Managing root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to reduce defects and improve reliability using lean principles and tools.
  • Collaborating with internal and external cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and support new product introductions.
  • Support qualification of new suppliers and materials through rigorous testing and documentation.
  • Reviewing and approving supplier documentation (e.g., PPAP submissions, control plans, FMEAs)
  • Maintaining accurate records of quality activities and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
  • Actively participating and utilize the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) concepts where applicable.
