About The Position

The Planning and Production Manager reports to the Facility Director and is responsible for overseeing the production planning process, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, and meeting customer delivery requirements. This role involves coordinating production schedules, managing service level agreements, optimizing workflow, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This role is also responsible for the financial planning, tracking and accurate accounting of expenditures, accruals, and month end closing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning and/or Supply Chain operations.
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and constructing macros.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Leadership experience with ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with lean concepts and continuous improvement methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WMS, ERP, Tableau, and MicroStrategy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Scheduling:
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure resource availability.
  • Spend time on the floor daily to identify roadblocks and necessary labor reallocations. Collaborate with Operations on adjustments needed to achieve planned throughput.
  • Capacity & Resource Management:
  • Analyze staffing needs to build long-term staffing plans that synchronize with cross-training plans and deconflict competing peaks in volume (e.g., DLC vs. SSC vs. Returns).
  • Own cross-training tracking and ensure associates are labor-shared to develop core competencies in multiple functions.
  • Monitor workforce requirements, create and update labor plans and models, and partner with Operations and HR to develop hiring plans by functional area.
  • Manage the partnership with contingent labor providers, including validating contingent labor charges and managing the Vendor Management System (VMS).
  • Process Optimization:
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements for efficiency. Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement improvements to drive safety, cost, service, and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with finance, planning and allocation, and marketing teams to identify opportunities to proactively plan and move merchandise to support key promotional events.
  • Financial Management:
  • Create the annual budget and track expenditures to ensure expenses are coded correctly. Create monthly accruals and lead monthly closing efforts including preparing journal entries.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Finance team to prevent surprises and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on production performance, capacity utilization, and KPIs.
  • Forecast future production needs based on sales trends and market demand.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and develop the planning and production team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
