About The Position

With guidance and oversight, the Senior Supply Chain Sourcing Strategist role leads sourcing strategies and procurement process across the university's departments. In this senior role, you will leverage data-driven insights, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and drive strategic sourcing decisions to support long-term operational efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability goals. You will lead complex sourcing projects, This senior role guides and shares knowledge with peers and colleagues. This role engages and collaborates across departments to understand their business and research needs, gather requirements, create solutions that meet the department's needs. This role aligns with departments on sourcing, supplier selection decisions and supplier performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing plans across multiple categories
  • Influence and guide departments across ASU through the procurement process in accordance with Arizona Board of Regents ("ABOR") guidelines (e.g., request for proposal, request for quote, intent to bid, sole source, etc.)
  • Analyze spend and other data points (e.g., market, higher education, etc.), conduct research and supplier analyses to identify sourcing opportunities and set objectives for initiatives
  • Lead and facilitate department engagement meetings to gather requirements, assess needs, align strategy and business requirements, understand trade-offs and risks
  • Display strong knowledge of spend areas (e.g., benchmarks, best in class solutions, etc.) and ASU's department's requirements to create strategies, solutions and mitigate risks with partners
  • Establish and deliver on value and cost savings targets for spend areas
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to peers and team members
  • Evaluate supplier performance and create solutions to improve supplier performance
  • Develop and present dashboards and reports for spend areas on supplier performance, value initiatives, and contract utilization
  • Develop negotiation strategy (e.g., solution, pricing, contract) and lead negotiations in collaboration with departments, legal and finance to minimize risks and optimize value for ASU and departments
  • Learn ASU's strategic priorities, department's business needs and apply this to sourcing strategy and supplier management
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and utilize technology and tools to streamline procurement operations and enhance stakeholder experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned
