About The Position

The Charge Capture Specialist III has demonstrated mastery of the charge specialist I and II functions. Collaborates with the O.R., patient accounting and accounts payable, materials management and purchasing, as well as other hospital departments and staff. Serves as resource for vendors, physician offices, and affiliate hospitals. Possesses the job skills, knowledge and ability to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the surgery charge office and to oversee operations when Financial Manager is absent. Serves as team lead over their area of expertise, i.e. charge auditing and vendor resources. Possesses expert knowledge in HH computer systems for patient charging and vendor billing. Acts as point of contact for Charge capture specialists I and II. Trains and coaches new employees- providing direction and feedback; facilitates conflict resolution. Fosters and maintains a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Some College Preferred. Work Experience in lieu of degree, 5 yrs Charge Capture or equivalent field.
  • Extensive knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment and supplies.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Have mastered of Charge Capture Specialist I and II roles.
  • Medical related experience required.
  • Above average computer knowledge required (Word, Excel).
  • Must have above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge or Experience in Cerner and Lawson helpful.
  • Must be able to operate communication systems appropriately (telephones, fax and scanners).
  • Must have customer service orientation – including the ability to communicate in English with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and the ability to use effective interpersonal and teamwork skills when working with variety of people and situations.
  • Must be able to organize work load, accomplish goals and objectives, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to establish priorities, delegate when required and follow up in problem solving—including the ability to adapt to an often stressful and rapidly changing environment.
  • Must have quality orientation and be attentive to detail.
  • Ability to do problem solving and negotiate for positive results with staff and physicians.
  • Must be able to work independently in a quiet environment.
  • Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Possess keen attention to detail with an ability to identify discrepancies, spot errors, and reconcile as needed.
  • Must be able to multitask
