Summary: The Surface Prep. Operator Helper must possess basic math, reading and writing skills and be committed to observe and follow all quality and safety procedures. He/She must have good time management and decision making skills. The ability to follow procedures correctly and inspect quality of work is of vital importance. Working well in teams from diverse backgrounds as both a leader and an individual contributor is required. Must be aware of all needs for PPE during processes covered by Surface Prep. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Responsibilities: At ecoat.us, the surface prep process is crucial. It involves several steps to ensure that surfaces are ready for coating. Cleaning: This step removes any dirt, grease, or oxide layers from the metal. Chemicals used are from a variety of companies and do require the correct PPE. Aprons, face shields and basic safety glasses are among the PPE products used to protect skin and clothing. Inspection: Every part is inspected to ensure it’s perfectly prepped for the process needed to ensure customer satisfaction. Serious Part Readiness: Surface Prep is one of the most important areas for a correct part readiness when it comes to adhesion of the coating materials that are applied. Incorrect surface preparation will result in faulty parts and unhappy customers. Other Areas of Duty: Sandblasting: Sandblasting is used to clean and prepare surfaces by shooting abrasive material at high velocity. This is perfect for removing rust, paint, or other unwanted layers to create a smooth, clean surface for coating. Protective suits, helmets and gloves are among the types of PPE used in this process. Process of Immersion: The object is immersed in a bath containing a paint-removing chemical. The paint particles are melted away so that they migrate and adhere to the top surface of the immersion bath.
