About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Surgical Coordinator is responsible for rendering professional nursing care and directing and guiding patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel. Exhibits the Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse.
  • A minimum of two years of critical care experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS within one year of being hired for position.
  • Maintains compliance in RQI required.
  • Verbal, clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity.
  • The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.
  • Willingness to attend leadership classes and customer class
  • Pre/Post/PACU additional requirements: PALS within 1 year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one year of experience at Marietta Memorial Hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments upon admission according to defined standards.
  • Collects and documents data related to patient’s physical, mental, developmental, emotional and social condition.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment of patients by the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient needs, knowledge of growth and development, and understanding of the treatment needed.
  • Assesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach in delivery style.
  • Formulates goals and outcomes based on assessment data.
  • Entries into medical record follow hospital policy (date, time, use of appropriate abbreviations, and legibility).
  • Completes computerized documentation per policy.
  • All documentation is accurate and completed within a timely manner.
  • Performs functions of Surgical Coordinator.
  • Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment.
  • Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance.
  • Granted authority to perform the supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
