As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will help create a safe and sterile environment for surgical operations and other procedures. You will be exposed to the latest technologies, offering a unique opportunity to gain invaluable medical knowledge through hands-on experience. A caregiver in this position works, 2:00am-10:30pm or 11:00pm-7:30am, including rotating weekends and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Requires full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more.
  • Exposure to body fluids.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area.
  • Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.
  • Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.
  • Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.
  • Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.
  • Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.
  • Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.
