Job Description Summary: It is the responsibility of the Surgical Technologist to function under the direct supervision of an RN while performing the scrub role on the intraoperative team and/or assisting with other patient care activities, and in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program
  • Completion of Certification program and exam required for Certified level
  • Two years recent hospital or health care facility experience required
  • Certified Surgical Tech Required at hire
  • Basic Life Support Required at hire
  • Knowledge of surgical techniques, anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and equipment and supplies
  • Ability to work independently, interdependently and under supervision within department and hospital policies
  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills required
  • Data entry computer skills required
  • Ability to function in an intermittently stressful environment
  • Ability to teach the role of Surgical Technologist including surgical technique, equipment and instrumentation

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Certification program and exam preferred
  • Two years current Surgical Technologist experience preferred

Responsibilities
