About The Position

On the road and in the field, Davis, Bowen & Friedel’s surveyors are always hard at work. Often the first individuals on site, surveyors play an integral role of the planning and design process. They are responsible for recording measurements on a wide range of terrain for various properties. Our architects and engineers use their measurements to design buildings and develop sites safely and accurately. The ideal candidate must be physically able to work outdoors in all terrain and weather conditions on job sites on a daily basis. They must be able to lead a team and, as a member of a survey crew, manage the performance of various types of surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology. Candidates must have the ability to solve problems in the field under adverse conditions using mathematical and analytical procedures. Requirements

  • The preferred applicant shall possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous surveying experience is required including work on boundary, topographic, bathymetric and ALTA surveys and construction stakeouts.
  • The ideal candidate should also have experience using theodolites, 3D scanners, and Topcon field controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the field crew to obtain measurements, sketches, and data collection for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Communicate progress with project managers and survey supervisors.
  • Guide equipment set-up and operation.
  • Layout stakes for map-making.
  • Maintain crew safety and use of safety equipment.
