Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a survey party chief role, with a focus on transportation-related projects.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors from an ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing projects and tasks, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and interact with the public during project outreach activities.
  • Ability to balance priorities among multiple projects, maintaining a high level of efficiency and productivity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry-standard surveying software.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal survey and land use regulations and requirements.
  • CA Professional Land Surveyor License preferred (or the ability to obtain within 12 months).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage field survey teams for various projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data collection.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute survey projects.
  • Conduct field surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, construction staking, and control surveys.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide project updates and address any concerns or inquiries.
  • Ensure all survey activities comply with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior survey staff, fostering a collaborative and professional team environment.
  • Maintain detailed and organized project records, including field notes, reports, and data files.
  • Utilize surveying equipment and software, ensuring all tools are properly maintained and calibrated.
