About The Position

The SVP, Strategy & Operations serves as a strategic thought partner and execution lead to the COO of Lockton’s Southeast Region. This role blends management consulting–style problem solving, financial and business analysis, and special project leadership to help scale and leverage the COO function across the region. Operating as a senior Chief of Staff–type role, this position works directly with the COO and senior leaders across Risk Solutions (Property & Casualty), People Solutions (Employee Benefits), and Professional and Executive Lines (ProExec) on the region’s highest‑priority strategic, financial, and operational initiatives. The role is ideal for a high‑performer seeking deep exposure to senior leadership decision‑making and end‑to-end execution with considerable autonomy, authority, and flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA a plus
  • 15+ years of post‑undergraduate experience in a roles of progressive responsibility
  • Background in the following:
  • Insurance brokerage or insurance carriers
  • Strategy, P&L leadership, or operations roles
  • Consulting or advisory roles supporting senior executives in insurance or insurance brokerage
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and solve complex business problems and translate analysis into executive‑ready recommendations
  • Proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft BI), AI tools, and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working directly with C‑suite or senior executives (e.g., Chief of Staff, Strategy, Transformation roles)
  • Exposure to operational improvement or transformation initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted extension of the COO, helping frame priorities, structure decisions, and translate strategy into executable plans
  • Support regional strategic planning, growth initiatives, and operating model evolution. Key near-term initiatives include developing a 5-year workforce plan, supporting practice leaders in ‘platforming’ their businesses (i.e., create scalable organizational structure with expertise and critical mass), and helping drive compliance and process excellence initiatives across the region
  • Help prepare executive‑level materials (PowerPoint decks, analyses, memos) for leadership meetings and decision forums
  • Represent the COO in select internal meetings, ensuring alignment, clarity, and follow‑through
  • Lead or support high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives spanning growth, productivity, operating effectiveness, talent, and client experience
  • Own discrete workstreams end‑to-end: scope definition, analysis, stakeholder coordination, execution tracking, and delivery (e.g., launching a new line of business or a vertical)
  • Partner closely with Practice Leaders in Risk Solutions, People Solutions, and Professional & Executive Lines to diagnose issues, design solutions, and drive implementation
  • Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis to support executive decision‑making
  • Work with finance partners and leadership to build financial and business models related to revenue growth, margins, producer economics, and capacity planning
  • Analyze regional performance trends, KPIs, and leading indicators; surface risks and opportunities proactively
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources into clear insights and recommendations
  • Help manage the region’s leadership operating cadence, including agenda setting, meeting preparation, and action tracking
  • Build strong working relationships with senior leaders and earn credibility through judgment, discretion, and quality of work
