About The Position

The Sweep role is responsible for park maintenance daily operations such as cleaning, stocking and running services and supplies and organizing materials and equipment to ensure a clean, efficient and well-maintained park environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, hygienic and welcoming park environment and requires collaborative team skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 15 years of age or older.
  • If you are under the age of 18 and have not completed high school (or equivalent), you must be able to obtain a work permit.
  • Dependable, responsible and able to follow instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, multi-tasking and communication skills with a team-focused mindset.
  • Ability to handle team requests accurately and responsibly.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures, sanitation standards and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness, including shifting priorities and monitoring team needs.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and exercise sound judgment during busy or stressful periods.
  • Effective memory recall for team requests and safety and sanitation knowledge.
  • Constant walking, standing, reaching, bending and grasping.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests, team members and leadership.
  • Ability to remain both stationary and in constant motion for extended periods (walking for most of the shift).
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 40 pounds (e.g., trash, recycling, boxes, cleaning supplies, tools, etc.).
  • Ability to use hands and arms for repetitive motions, including twisting, pushing, pulling and stocking.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold environments depending on assigned area (e.g., front entrance, picnic area, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior sweep, janitorial, custodial or maintenance experience in a theme park, hotel, hospitality, office or other public or private venue environment is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and sanitation practices are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, operate and maintain cleaning equipment, tools and park services in accordance with park safety guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain park areas including walkways, restrooms, walls, baseboards, drains, mop stations, sinks, waste cans, waste enclosures, food and beverage services, camp services, operations services, guest service areas, etc.
  • Respond promptly to spills, cleaning emergencies, leaks, trash and human waste removal needs throughout the park.
  • Set up/close down cleaning station(s) at each shift ensuring cleanliness, organization and functional equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cleaning stations, equipment, storage areas, trash cans, waste areas, etc.
  • Stock and replenish cleaning supplies, chemicals, sanitizers and other hygienic materials as needed.
  • Handle light general maintenance tasks such as cleaning park equipment and fixtures including horticulture.
  • Complete closing duties including cleaning, sanitizing, restocking supplies and securing equipment and tools.
  • Secure and verify cleaning equipment, storage areas, supply and chemical cabinets and any related tools.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain workflow and deliver exceptional cleanliness to our guests.
  • Follow all California health, safety, sanitation and chemical standards and compliance requirements.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures in alignment with the Orange County Environmental Health standards.
  • Attend team meetings, learn best practices from leadership staff and complete required training sessions.
  • Complete paperwork including cleaning logs, safety checklists and daily checklist reports.
  • Operate certain equipment including brooms, sweep pans, mops, waste receptacles, waste compactors, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership and management regarding team needs and concerns.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and reporting shortages or equipment needs.
  • Ensure assigned park areas meet health and safety standards from Orange County Environmental Health inspections.
  • Complete any Custodian job responsibilities, if necessary.
  • Support special events, promotions or themed nights as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties or special projects assigned to support business needs.
