About The Position
These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage: We provide Uniforms & PPE $150 steel toe boot allowance Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, profit sharing and paid holidays Here is what you will be doing: Spotting cars on the correct track; move empty cars and build the outbound train Classification of inbound train Unloading of materials consisting of a variety of bulk liquid and dry products Follow operating procedures and policies Operate or learn to operate rail car loading systems and equipment perform work safely and productively Enforces safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors Perform general maintenance on equipment Assist with other duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep and painting) Interact with customers, railroad crews, other Team Members and visitors
Requirements
- Two years of rail switching preferred
- Read, write, and understand English
- Basic math skills
- Computer skills (light data entry)
- Capable to learn how to operate and maintain rail car/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment, etc.)
- Climb up and down rail cars/ladders safely
- Work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps)
- Willing to work with liquid hazardous and dry bulk materials
- Lift up to (50) pounds
