About The Position

The Nutrition Education (NE) Group Leader will lead and facilitate nutritional and dietary instruction which engage the program participants actively in making healthful dietary decisions. The NE Group Leader will implement lesson plans that present program participants with resources that promote a healthy lifestyle. The NE Group Leader will provide participants with a safe and enjoyable environment in which to learn, prepare meals and have fun. Modeling honest, positive behaviors and practices is absolutely necessary. The NE Group Leader must be able to instruct youth of grades Pre-K to 6 from a prepared curriculum based on USDA guidelines and will be expected to implement new, fresh recipes for participants. This position is full-time, seasonal employment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 2-3 years of education or work-related experience in the areas of Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health and/or a related field.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with a wide range of ages and group sizes.
  • Valide National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
  • TB Test
  • Health Physical to meet DHS compliance for licensed School Age Centers
  • Upon hire, complete 10 hours of Health and Safety Training
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License and able to obtain insurance clearances as determined by The Salvation Army's insurance company.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 prior to hire.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
