AWS is looking for a System Development Engineer to become part of a global Data
Center Engineering team, responsible for the design, development, automation,
and continuous innovation within our rapidly expanding and evolving data center
footprint. This position can be based out of Seattle, Washington or Herndon,
Virginia.

Our Controls Products & Services team takes full product ownership to design,
develop, and deliver electrical and mechanical controls systems that
programmatically scale compute capacity. As engineers at Amazon, we are
responsible for achieving a world-class uptime for our customers. We seek new
ways to enhance the reliability, scalability, and cost effectiveness of our
engineering designs. As an engineer at Amazon, you have the ability to drive
change and make a substantial impact in the systems our customers rely on.

system development engineer at Amazon you will be working with cross-functional
groups throughout the global Data Center Engineering organization.

Requirements

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
• 4+ years of programmable logic controls (PLC) programs experience

Responsibilities

• Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
• Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
• Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
• Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.
• Work with global partners to deliver electrical and mechanical controls products.
