Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. The UNIX/Linux System Administrator (Level 3) is an essential contributor responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the organization’s Red Hat and virtualized environments. This role focuses on operational support, routine task automation, and providing reliable assistance for the organization’s IT infrastructure.Key Responsibilities• Infrastructure Support: Assist in the management and maintenance of the VMware HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure, performing routine tasks to ensure optimal performance and high availability.• Linux Systems Support: Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and environments, serving as a point of contact for operational issues.• Virtualization Assistance: Assist in the administration and maintenance of virtualization solutions using VMware vSphere and HPE SimpliVity platforms.• Automation Assistance: Utilize scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) to automate routine system administration and deployment tasks, improving operational efficiency.• System Health Monitoring: Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and response to alerts from monitoring and logging tools to ensure continuous system performance and proactively address issues.• Backup & Recovery Assistance: Assist in the execution and management of established backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.• Security & Patching Assistance: Assist in conducting regular patching, updates, and vulnerability remediation across Linux environments following established security protocols.• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with Development, Network, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems.
