About The Position

The Linux/Windows systems administrator (SA) is responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure within its designated area of responsibility (AOR). This role involves a variety of tasks, including server maintenance, security monitoring, and updating system software. The SA must have extensive knowledge of both Linux and Windows server setups, as well as a firm understanding of networking protocols and server security mechanisms. Responsibilities include installing server systems, configuring software and hardware, performing system maintenance checks, diagnosing technical issues, and providing technical support and guidance. The ideal candidate will also have experience with scripting, automation tools, and server security, and a good knowledge of TCP/IP networks, clustering, and relevant network protocols. The position requires a strong technical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Highschool, CSWF acceptable cert (CompTIA Cloud+ or Sec+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP); OS cert, and 3+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering; relevant CSWF cert, and OS cert
  • Top Secret (must be a US Citizen)

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and maintain infrastructure components in a virtualized Linux Environment
  • Plan and deploy applications in a Linux or Windows environment
  • Fully manage the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers
  • Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies such as NAS or SAN
  • Provide direct mission support in a classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environment
  • Within this role the individual will architect, install, configure and optimize computing systems and networks in a Linux or Windows based environment
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and resolve failures and critical alerts on Linux and Windows servers
  • Write and troubleshoot Windows and Linux Shell Scripts
  • Backup and restore data to prevent data loss.
  • Respond to help desk requests and provide technical support to end-users.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
