About The Position

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and secure operation of computer systems, networks, hardware, and software supporting organizational and program requirements. This role ensures system reliability, performance, and security by performing system administration tasks such as system monitoring, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. The Systems Administrator supports the operation of operating systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software while maintaining system integrity and supporting hardware, software, and network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Secret clearance.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on technical experience in systems administration or related technical roles.
  • Experience with system backup and recovery, basic software management, security management, and network management.
  • Experience operating and maintaining computer systems including installation and configuration of hardware and operating systems.
  • Experience with system sizing, performance monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Experience supporting Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software and system environments.
  • Experience in hardware, software, and network design, troubleshooting, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of computer systems administration, operating systems, and network management principles.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, operating systems, and COTS software.
  • Ability to perform system performance monitoring, tuning, and resource management.
  • Knowledge of system backup, disaster recovery, and data protection procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Understanding of system security management and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in technical environments.
  • Ability to maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with technical teams and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Naval Surface Warfare Center / DoD Test and Evaluation support preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant technical training and equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support computer systems, hardware, operating systems, and COTS software.
  • Perform system backup and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and system availability.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, including system sizing, tuning, and resource allocation.
  • Manage system security controls and support implementation of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Administer and maintain network and system resources to ensure reliable system operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and basic software management activities.
  • Support hardware, software, and network design and configuration efforts.
  • Maintain system documentation including configuration details, maintenance procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure systems operate efficiently and meet operational requirements.
