About The Position

Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities and safely deploy such a robotaxi solution. The System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team plays a foundational role in the company's success, responsible for constructing the safety case and fail-operational design for our autonomous driving robots before public road deployment. You will be part of an organization with strong leadership and a transparent, respectful culture that enables you to reach your full potential. In this role, you will: Develop, coordinate, and execute efficient simulation and structured test plans for our autonomy systems, with a focus on perception and sensor performance and how those impact the resulting system driving behavior. Analyze and triage pipeline results that contribute to key launch blocking metrics for software and system releases. Evaluate and characterize the performance of new autonomy sensors and hardware as they are integrated into the Zoox vehicle. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, systems engineers, simulation developers, and safety experts, to identify and mitigate risks. Develop and refine test methodologies to ensure comprehensive coverage of our autonomy system's operational design domain. Communicate test results and analysis to stakeholders, contributing to the overall safety case and fail operational design for our robotaxi.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering, verification, and validation, or a related role
  • Experience with the development and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong systems-level thinking and the ability to understand and navigate complex technical systems
  • Ability to grapple with ambiguity and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Experience with requirements and test traceability tools such as Polarion, Jama, DOORS, or TestRails
  • Proficiency with Python and SQL

Nice To Haves
