About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Systems Engineer (Mid-Level & Senior) to support the F-15 Government Training Systems in Berkeley, MO. This individual will be a self-motivated Systems or Software Engineer to serve as our Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) focal. They will facilitate interoperability with other military simulation platforms including reviewing and evaluating draft interoperability requirements, interpreting software requirements to develop, document and execute system test plans, support testing and integration events, and investigate problem reports to determine root cause and correction plans. F-15 Training Systems provides trainers to USAF facilities throughout the US and at OCONUS locations to support warfighters. The F-15 Training systems include high fidelity cockpits with immersive visualization systems, high fidelity computer generated forces to provide synthetic opponents to train against, and applications providing instructors control over training setup, execution and post-training debrief. This role blends systems, software, and test engineering to assure simulation interoperability, enabling and supporting realistic, high fidelity mission training and test events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, systems engineering, simulation integration, or avionics integration (5–10 years typical for P3).
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication; experience producing documents such as ICDs, test plans, and after action review artifacts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, primarily domestic but possibly international
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Nice To Haves

  • 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of higher education and experience (Senior Level 4)
  • Prior Boeing or defense industry simulation/DMO experience
  • Experience with DMO/LVC technologies and interoperability standards including HLA (RTI), DIS, or TENA
  • Experience with CIGI, image generator integration, and common database/terrain standards (CDB, GIS)
  • Networking experience including software tools for packet capture/analysis
  • Strong software background including developing, updating and executing automated testing, especially using Microsoft Visual Studio C++
  • Familiarity with formal systems development lifecycle (V model)
  • Experience coordinating distributed, multi-site events and tests and interacting with government stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the focal/technical lead for program-level DMO activities and cross-team coordination with internal Boeing programs, other contractors and US Government representatives
  • Developing an understanding of system architecture and capabilities to enable decomposing system level requirements, especially to determine software requirements
  • Develop and maintain DMO architecture artifacts including system configurations, federate system test plans, test procedures and test reports
  • Plan and execute system tests to verify system functionality and investigate and diagnose system anomalies
  • Provide on-site and remote support as technical point of contact including performing real-time troubleshooting during training and test events
  • Support configuration management of software configuration items across numerous distributed sites
  • Understanding USG classified computer security operations including decomposing security classification guidelines into system requirements, test plans and executing test points for system validation
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate external vendor integrations and third-party services
  • Produce clear engineering documentation, test plans and reports, and briefings for stakeholders and leadership
