Orion is NASA's spacecraft that will take humans deep into space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communications, radiation shielding and the world's largest heat shield that will support astronauts and help return them safely home. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor creating Orion. We are in the production phase and have finalized a contract for six Orion spacecraft missions and the ability to order up to 12 in total. The first spacecraft delivered on this contract, Artemis III, will transport the first woman and the next man to the surface of the Moon. Orion is a critical part of the agency's Artemis program to deliver a sustainable presence on the lunar surface and to prepare us to move on to Mars. What puts Orion in a class all its own? The technology our engineers use to deliver the only exploration class spacecraft to take humans deeper into space than ever before. We are seeking a test engineer to support the Denver Vehicle Management Computer (VMC) Test Bench (VTB), Support Software Development Lab (SSDL), and Orion Utility Network Lab (OUNL) operations, including: Artemis III and future mission test and operations Hands-on integration and troubleshooting activities Some 2nd shift/weekend support required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Data analysis and manipulation in MATLAB and/or Excel
  • Software, hardware, and/or system test experience
  • Engineering internship work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Anomaly troubleshooting and problem resolution experience
  • Familiarity with developing and executing scripts
  • Exposure to spacecraft architecture and avionics and ground subsystems (i.e., spacecraft and ground network, telemetry and ground processing, displays and controls, GN&C)
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems problem solver; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change
  • Demonstrated ability to report hardware/software issues and provide status through clear written and verbal communication
