About The Position

The Systems Engineer I, Cybersecurity Penetration Tester supports the execution of security assessments and offensive security activities under the guidance of senior penetration testers. This role is designed for individuals early in their cybersecurity career who are eager to build hands‑on skills, learn industry‑standard methodologies, and grow within a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • One (1) or more years of experience in cybersecurity or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of: Networking concepts and protocols Operating systems (Windows and Linux) Web technologies and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10 basics)
  • Basic familiarity with security and testing tools such as Nmap, Burp Suite, Kali Linux, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding network protocols and basic problem‑solving skills.
  • Interest in scripting or automation, with exposure to languages such as Python preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment under supervision and follow established methodologies.

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent entry‑level certification.
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
  • GIAC Certified Penetration Tester (GPEN)
  • EC‑Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Or equivalent offensive security certifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing basic penetration tests, including internal, external, web application, and network assessments under supervision.
  • Support red team engagements by helping simulate attacks and identify basic gaps in security controls.
  • Learn to identify, exploit, and document vulnerabilities using manual and automated techniques, following methodologies such as OWASP Top 10 and PTES.
  • Help analyze testing results, assess risks, and contribute to reports that summarize findings and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Collaborate with development, IT, and security teams to understand fixes and participate in re‑testing efforts.
  • Receive mentoring from senior penetration testers, participate in training on tools and techniques, and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in developing simple scripts and tools to support testing activities and automation.
  • Stay informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and offensive security trends.
  • Communicate findings and observations to team members and stakeholders with guidance from senior staff.
