About The Position

At BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) we develop and manufacture state of the art RF & sensor technologies. This systems engineer role will report into our Manufacturing & Test Operations team and support activities within our Aerospace Manufacturing Center located in Westminster, CO. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, integrate, and test manufacturing execution system tools to enable the production team. This is a challenging and dynamic role that includes data analysis, execution system development and system sustainment. This opportunity requires a results driven individual, with passion for creating the best solutions. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with large, distributed teams.
  • Solid interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience working with senior-level engineers and multiple disciplines.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training and professional growth.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, including real-time anomaly resolution.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, with the ability to translate user issues into actionable solutions.
  • Manufacturing execution system development experience in a business environment.
  • A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support our in-house created system tools used by manufacturing team members.
  • Requirement gathering and an ability to understand needs, problem solve and create solutions.
  • Develop applications and tools using requirements to improve data visibility, value, and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and other manufacturing methodologies so that the tools developed will support the production strategy.
  • Ability to understand large and complicated datasets to develop tools that use the information effectively.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
