About The Position

The System Engineering Co-op student will work alongside, and in support of the Systems Engineering team. The system engineering team is a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices used to automate in-vitro diagnostic testing usually found in a microbiology laboratory. The engineering co-op student will be supervised by and mentored by the Director, Manager, and Senior engineers within the System Engineering team and the role will include a significant amount of interaction and collaboration with other system development team members. Primary Duties The co-op student will obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrumentation research, design, development, and testing. Candidates will be expected to have general engineering knowledge including the use of standard engineering practices. This position will include creation and execution of verification tests, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and evaluating instrument and system issues and design alternatives. The co-op student will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMérieux Design Control process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality requirements. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS Program in a related Systems, Biomedical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering program and completed 1 full year
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Written Communication – including the ability to communicate technical data in written form
  • Ability to remain in stationary position, either sitting or standing, for prolonged periods
  • Ability to operate a PC, phone, and other devices
  • Ability to see PC screen clearly, and to read fine print
  • Ability to move about inside the office
  • Ability to occasionally move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
