Position Summary We are looking for a Systems Integration & Platform Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role you will design, build, and maintain the cloud and edge infrastructure that connects industrial control systems, sensors, and operational technology (OT) to modern data platforms. You will work at the intersection of manufacturing operations and software engineering—translating real-time plant floor data into actionable insights while ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems integration, platform engineering, DevOps, or a related role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, data pipelines, and API development (Flask, Fast API, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, RDS, VPC, IAM) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred).
  • Working knowledge of at least two industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration concepts (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or AWS Timestream).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN) especially as they apply to OT/IT convergence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Associate, Developer Associate, or IoT Specialty).
  • Experience with SCADA platforms (Ignition by Inductive Automation, Wonderware, FactoryTalk) or historian databases (OSIsoft PI, Aveva Historian).
  • Familiarity with message brokers and streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS Kinesis).
  • Exposure to IEC 62443 or NIST SP 800-82 cybersecurity frameworks for industrial control systems.
  • Experience building real-time dashboards and visualizations using Grafana, QuickSight, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming concepts (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and operate AWS-based infrastructure (EC2, Lambda, IoT Core, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS) to support manufacturing data pipelines and edge computing workloads.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to ensure repeatable, version-controlled deployments.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Jenkins) for application and infrastructure releases.
  • Monitor platform health using CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus and establish alerting, logging, and incident response procedures.
  • Integrate industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP) with cloud and on-premise data stores.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based ETL services, API gateways, and data transformation scripts that normalize sensor, SCADA, and PLC data.
  • Partner with controls engineers to map plant floor signals to unified data models and ensure data integrity from edge to cloud.
  • Connect and configure industrial IoT gateways and edge devices (e.g., AWS IoT Greengrass, Ignition Edge) for real-time data acquisition.
  • Apply defense-in-depth principles across the OT/IT boundary including network segmentation, TLS/mTLS, certificate management, and role-based access control.
  • Support compliance efforts related to NIST 800-82, IEC 62443, and customer-specific cybersecurity requirements.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and remediation cycles for both cloud resources and edge devices.
  • Work cross-functionally with controls, mechanical, and software teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Author and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, integration guides, and operational playbooks.
  • Provide technical input during customer design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site acceptance tests (SAT).
