EO/AA This position is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, analyzing mechanical and electrical problems, and performing the appropriate corrective action on equipment in the specified area of expertise. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the continuous and safe functioning of the equipment in the assigned area. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of maintenance and repair experience, or the equivalency in one (1) or more of the following areas: pipefitting, heating, air conditioning, steam-operated systems, pneumatic and electronic building control systems, plumbing and refrigeration systems, commercial or industrial laundry equipment, sterilizing equipment, gas or diesel engines and generators, kitchen and cafeteria equipment, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, or welding.
  • Completion of two (2) year vocational schooling, if in a refrigeration and air conditioning systems position.
  • Environmental Protection Agency certification with a Universal permit, if in a refrigeration and air conditioning systems position.
  • Depending upon department of hire, a valid, State of Utah Driver's License may be required.
  • Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly during an emergency situation.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrated high level of technical expertise.
  • Ability to meet regulatory agency requirements.
  • Ability to determine repair and maintenance methods with limited waste.
  • Ability to devise appropriate solutions to unusual equipment problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Boiler license from a regulatory agency may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, repairs, overhauls, services, and maintains equipment in the area of expertise.
  • Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on equipment.
  • Helps in designing and implementing mechanical or electrical alterations to new and existing equipment in order to improve efficiency, performance, and to extend the life of the equipment.
  • Ensures that all equipment meets regulatory compliance requirements mandated by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Maintains clean equipment rooms and other areas.
  • Maintains equipment performance and repair records.
  • May give work direction, establish priorities, and instruct Systems Maintenance Mechanics and other personnel, if lead worker status is assigned.
  • Completes required after-hours on-call rotation.
